"The Mud and the Lotus" -There comes a time when you must withdraw from everything around you. Create a sacred, quiet space - just for yourself. Others might see it as selfish. That is what the cat carries in this painting - the choice to turn inward, even when the world doesn't understand.
In that space, you descend into your own mud. Anger, sadness, hopeless, grief - all of it surfaces. Many emotions will come. But in that mud, the most beautiful things begin to grow.
The cat holds a lotus flower freshly lifted from the mud, placing it into vases - a symbol of seeing your own inner gifts, recognising their beauty right now, in this moment. The lotus flowers are white, surrounded by clearing water.
Above them, white lines flow continuously - the thoughts that will arise during this process. They run like clouds. It is enough simply to observe them.
The lotus lives in mud. It needs it. Without the darkness below, it cannot reach the light above. The mud is not the obstacle - it is the soil. The very place where your inner gifts take root.
I painted this while walking through exactly this process. Now I can see the result clearly. I have learned to value my own mud - as the ground where I bloom.
