"Cat with red 90s scarf " When I was painting this, I was healing.

I had met people who activated something very old and very painful in me. I was in therapy - more than one. And through that process something shifted. I started to see other people's childhood wounds clearly. Not to fix them, not to change them. Just to see them. And to accept them completely as they were.

That acceptance opened something unexpected: joy. Real aliveness. The kind you feel when you stop protecting yourself from everything and just let life in.

The kitten in this painting is that - something small, warm, alive. A new energy arriving. The red scarf from the 90s is the childhood wound it carries with it. Because that's how it works - the joy and the old pain come together. You can't separate them.

There was a risk in opening like that. The risk of becoming reactive again, of falling back into old cycles. But I had done enough work by then. The cycle closed. I could hold the kitten - the joy, the aliveness, the risk - without being pulled under.
