We all know that posture. The one that says - I don't need anyone. I am fine. Nothing touches me.
That is the ego. Not evil, not wrong - just afraid. Afraid of what happens if it lets down its guard. If it allows itself to be seen. Around it, a snake coils. Not a threat - an invitation. The oldest symbol of transformation, of facing what frightens you. Of shedding what no longer serves.
The desert surrounds everything. Dry, silent, vast. The landscape the ego creates when it stays too long in control - beautiful in its own way, but nothing grows there.
I painted this when I had to face my own ego. That moment when you realise the armour you built to protect yourself has become the very thing keeping you from life. Not easy to be vulnerable. But nothing real grows without it.
