"Cleopatra" - I read a book about Cleopatra. She was extraordinary - powerful, brilliant, always ten steps ahead. But something in her story stayed with me that wasn't about the power. It was about the cost of it. Always in control. Never resting. Wearing a different version of herself for every person in the room.
I recognised something in that. The exhaustion of being strategic all the time. Of not being able to trust fully, even the people closest to you. Of performing strength instead of simply living from it.
This painting is my answer to that. A face that holds power - but chooses stillness. Energy that doesn't need to prove itself. The version of me that doesn't want to control every corner. That wants to be calm, real, and fully herself without calculation.
